Xbox 360 Green Wireless Controller – is it any better?

As I now have two copies of Street Fighter IV (PS3 and 360 version), I am fully aware how wank the 360 controller is for fighting games. I am 100% accurate when I say the DualShock3/ Sixaxis controller is much better than the Xbox 360 Controller.

One of the controller’s problems is it’s weak D-Pad so what do Microsoft do about it? They go release Limited Edition controller with a revised D-Pad with much better precession. The real question is though, is it any better? Yes and No

The D-Pad is much better than the original 360 controller, especially for Street Fighter IV. I found it a lot easier to execute directional attacks such as the Hadokens, Shoryukens etc but the controller on whole still is utter wank. The A,B,Y and X buttons are not flat which instead as some stupid round feel to them which makes linking combos difficult. It also doesn’t help that Ultra Combos require three punch or kick buttons which can be annoying when you can’t execute it right.

Originally released to coincide with Pro Evolution Soccer 2009, it does make playing games which require accurate execution from the D-Pad better but doesn’t help that much. Your best to just get an Arcade Stick for Street Fighter IV and HD Remix.

Finally, I don’t understand why this is a Limited Edition controller!? It’s green fair enough but wouldn’t it usually be a smart idea to implement a revised design of a device into future releases? No according to Microsoft. You’ll be very lucky to find one of these around. I managed to pick mine up for £30 months after it was released.

The DualShock 3 is still miles better than the Xbox 360 Controller. Period
